Most commonly known as the devil’s hour, 3 AM has become the most dreaded time of the day. When the clock strikes 3 AM, people believe that the paranormal activity is at its peak. Most paranormal investigators and researchers have documented multiple cases of the heightened paranormal phenomenon during the ‘dead time.’ It is said that the demons of the hell have utmost power during this time. There are multiple mysteries surrounding this hour, many of which stem from the pop culture usage of the time to induce fear and embellish horror movies. While a lot seems to be true, the significance of 3 AM has a lot more depth to it than someone might imagine.

What is the significance of 3 AM in the Bible?

The number 3 itself appears multiple times in the Bible. Starting from the Holy Trinity, there is a lot of significance attached to the number 3- both good and bad. It is said that Jesus Christ, in his bid to save humanity, atoned for the sins of all mankind- from the past, the present, and the future. His last words, “It is finished,” also have three words. Ergo, the Bible attaches a lot of importance to the number 3. The figure denotes divinity, completion, and perfection.

Coming to time, artifacts and scriptures (and the Bible) suggest that Christ was crucified at 3 PM. As we all know, Satan or the devil’s world is the exact opposite of the world saved by Jesus 3 AM becomes of interest to the king of lies. Like everything, 3 AM becomes the ultimate perverse of everything good. When Jesus was crucified, something extremely pure and self-sacrificial occurred. That time of the day became divine and signified selflessness to the extreme. In Satan’s reverse world, 3 AM denotes a time wherein the dark and the evil reign supreme and try to destroy humanity instead of saving it.

The devil derives power from sacrificing others instead of himself; he likes making people sin rather than repenting for their sins. Most importantly, he loves disobeying God and everything he stands for. At 3 AM, the demon hordes of hell are given the power to do the devil’s bidding. While 3 PM is considered Godly, 3 AM stands for everything unholy. In fact, most ritualistic sacrifices happen at 3 AM, garnering it the name “The Witching Hour.”

3 AM is also the time when the veil to the other world is at its weakest, making contact between the living and the dead fairly easy. This idea stems from the fact that when Christ died, the world or the veil of the temple was torn into two.

According to Luke’s gospel, “Now it was about the sixth hour (noon), and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour (three in the afternoon). Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, ‘Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ Having said this, He breathed His last.”

The breaking of this barrier between man and God indicated God’s personal spiritual communication with mankind. The reverse of this is when the veil is lowered at 3 AM when the demonic hour begins, and all that is unholy can communicate with humankind.

The above is the reason why most horror flicks like The Conjuring love playing around with the concept of the devil’s love of 3 AM. The same movie also supports the idea that Satan likes a perverse of everything divine- the three knocks signifying a mockery of the Holy Trinity.

Another time of significance is 3:33 AM, the half of Satan’s favorite number- 666.

Significance of waking up at 3 AM

We may have established one significance of 3 AM in the Bible. There are plenty of other significant aspects of 3 AM in the Bible. Some may be dark, while the others are not as dark as they may seem. In fact, sometimes, 3 AM may stand for something nice, something lighter, something divine.

It has come become common knowledge that God seeks out various ways to communicate with us. Biblical references can be made to God’s love for sending messages via dreams. Take, for instance, Joseph’s dream about Mary’s pregnancy or Jacob and his ladder to the heavens. Most of these dreams indicate something important that the divine wishes to communicate to us.

If you find yourselves waking up every day at 3 AM, there is a mighty chance that the universe or the spirit guides are trying to contact you. Every being is interconnected with the Almighty and the universe in some form or the other. Therefore, when someone is trying to reach out to you, it may not always be that easy. As you already know, the veil to the other world is down during this time. Ergo, not only evil but some good spirits might also want to connect to you. Most researchers say that it is during this time that the spirit guides want to let us know of our higher purpose in life.

Also of importance in this aspect is the reason why such dreams are occurring or why one is waking up during these dark hours. Sure, the guides wanting to communicate is one reason. But, the main reason the said spirits want to reach out and talk to you is your own restlessness. If you have been feeling anxious and are not able to figure out your life, the universe uses 3 AM portal openings to send you a signal of your higher purpose in life. Some say that the signs are quite understandable, while to the others, the signals are extremely complicated. It is entirely up to us to interpret these dreams and ‘communications.’

However, make sure that you know for a fact that it is something positive trying to talk. All of us are blessed with that “gut instinct,” which tells us what is right and what is not. The devil’s demon hordes will also try to pursue their agenda at this time through you. If something does not feel right, that means that the wrong kind of spirits have reached you with malicious intent. All you can do during such time is pray; since everything can be solved via prayer, according to the Bible. “Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. (Mark 13:33)”

The Fourth Prayer Watch

The significance of 3 AM in the bible is not just limited to spirits, spirit guides, or the other realm. Bible has specified eight prayer watches for mankind to follow. Each watch is designed for a specific reason. Accordingly, the fourth watch is the last watch of the night and is quite necessary.

The fourth watch has multiple reasons for being so important. As we have established that this time i.e., 3 AM is the satanic hour, a prayer watch during this time is of utmost pertinence. Waking up to Godly words or reciting the holy verses around the fourth watch is crucial to keeping all that is unholy at bay. The watch is rightfully called ‘The Graveyard Prophetic Watch.’

Another vital part about this watch is the transition that comes during this time. From 3 AM to 5 AM, the devil takes the wheel and also begins to lose his power on humanity. This is the time when the world is connected to the other realm. Spend this time in prayer and meditation, and watch all your heart’s desires fulfilled. This is also the time one can talk to God uninterrupted.

While the 3 AM significance is entirely spiritual and annotates to awakening, the Bible has multiple stories and events occurring during this time. In both Mark and Matthew’s gospel, Jesus speaks and walks on water during this hour. Accordingly, “Now in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went to them, walking on the sea…. Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘Be of good cheer! It is I—do not be afraid.’”

Some of the events that happen during this hour in the Bible include Jesus and Peter walking on water (as referenced above). Christ is resurrected from the dead during this hour- “Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” (Matthew 28:10).

Another considerable event occurs during this time. The shepherds are visited by the angels to announce the arrival of their savior. “To you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)

Final Thoughts

There are plenty of other stories that indicate the significance of 3 AM in the Bible. For instance, Moses leading the Israelites across the Red Sea, or Jacob wrestling with God. While the most common explanation of 3 AM is the devil’s hour, the Bible conversely suggests many beautiful events happened during this hour. Staring from the resurrection to the angels announcing the birth of the savior, sizable developments take place at 3 AM. This goes on to show that the significance of 3 AM in the Bible is beyond Satan and his perversion of everything divine. Although it will do you good to not forget that the demons are at large in the night at 3 AM. Knowledge is power.
