Pastor Duane Vander Klok’s new book,
“Unleashing the Force of Favor” is a revealing look at the biblical force
known as favor. Written in an easy-going, conversational manner, Pastor
Duane makes the concept of favor come to life for the reader in a very
practical, day-to-day useable manner.
One of the things Pastor Duane illustrates is
that it is the will of God to bless his children. Another truth he
reveals is that God is neither a “blessing genie” nor moved by need; that
there is no formula for favor but God is moved by our faith. This book
plainly shows that God’s favor follows righteousness; that is, our right
standing with God through Jesus Christ.
This book also shows the reader that there
are varying degrees of favor. He begins with the example of Jesus who
“grew in stature and favor with God and men.” Pastor Duane clearly shows
the reader the distinction between favor with God and favor with men. He
takes the reader through God’s plan for increase in favor.
There is a clear relationship between faith
and favor. He shows the importance of confession to harnessing the power
of favor. Pastor Duane rightly divides the Word of Truth in comparing our
daily prayer and confession of God’s promises to daily exercise.
Confession of God’s Word over our situation as a matter of habit serves
to build our “faith muscles.” But suddenly exerting faith without
building it is like running a marathon without the benefit of training;
as such it can have very negative consequences.
Favor is a force governed by spiritual law.
As such, it exists whether you operate in it or not. Pastor Duane also
shows how favor is like electricity; we only need to know how to activate
it. The analogy to electricity is powerful because it illustrates how
salvation connects you to God’s unlimited power supply but prayer and
confession provides a means for unleashing that power in your life.
Pastor Duane does a fantastic job of
comparing and contrasting Naomi and Ruth and the difference between
running from and embracing favor. This study in contrasts alone is worth
reading this book. It will take you back to the book of Ruth with a fresh
revelation of favor borne of covenant relationship.
“Unleashing the Force of Favor” is a
must-read. It will bless you with a Spirit-filled illumination,
revelation, and practical application of God’s Word. You will need three
things when you open this book: one, an open Bible; two, an open mind;
and, three, a good cup of coffee or tea – because once you start reading,
you won’t want to put this book down until you finish!
