How do you revive an unfocused church? How do
you get a church to see outside it's own four walls and reach out to the
community that surrounds them?
Jack Eggar plays out a modern day church
scenario that has problems that need a realistic, long-lasting solution.
This book is a must read for all churches big or small. Mr. Eggar so
wonderfully portrayed all the characters in this book.
The style of writing that Mr. Eggar displayed
is simple yet is so vividly explained that you feel transported into the
novel along with the other characters.
This is the only book that I have read that
points out specific church related problems in a tactful manner and based
on a story line instead of a how-to guide. He weaves workable solutions
in a story-like manner that is easily understood.
This is not simply a how-to book but contains
the personal feelings and motivations of the characters so that on some
basis you can sympathizes with all of them. The book allows you to relate
to types of people that may be in your own church that are resistant to
change and ones that are eager to do what ever it takes.
The problems that this book faces are
realistic and happening in churches today. Mr. Eggar brings to light
certain problems that you may not have even noticed in your own church. I
have to commend Mr. Eggar for his wonderfully written book. I know that
personally I received allot of in site and helpful hints that I plan on
implementing into my own church. Upon finishing the book, I immediately
took it to my pastor for him to read.
I can say that I would recommend this book to
any deacon, preacher or congregation member, even if you think your
church doesn't have problems. This book has the potential to inspire and
resurrect every church that applies the principles listed in the book.
