People take a lot of time and energy trying to find evidence of God. They look at the heavens and the earth's wonders and marvel at the beauty. But perhaps the greatest evidence of God is found in His church.

Well-known author Derek Prince uses that premise in his book "Rediscovering God's Church". The idea is that God's plan to introduce the world to Himself would be through the demonstration of His love to and through the church.

In the book, Prince takes us through a biblical journey of epic proportions detailing how God's Plan
was laid out from the beginning.

"Rediscovering God's Church" is conveniently organized into six sections, dealing with topics ranging from "God's Vision for the Church" to "The Structure of the Church" to "The Future of the Church". The way in which this book is organized allows one to either read straight through or to look at sections of personal interest.

My favorite part of the book was the section on "The Structure of the Church". As a pastor I found the section to be useful as a reminder of how the church should operate on a practical level. I particularly found the chapter on the local church to be interesting. Through a liberal use of scripture the author discusses how the local church is mentioned in the New Testament in two main ways: in the home and in the city. The author puts forth a fascinating model of how the local church should work together to reach people for Christ. This chapter of the book could be used to spur a lively discussion among both clergy and laity.

I found the book to be quite informational and useful if not just a bit too academic in nature. While the book does a fantastic job of helping the reader "rediscover" what the church is and should be all about, I found that at 428 pages it was a bit lengthy and somewhat like a textbook. Having said that, I found Derek Prince's book to be both educational and encouraging. The book exhaustingly covers the church top to bottom and would be useful for clergy and laity alike to get a full picture of how a heavenly concept like the church should work on earth.
