Would you like to paint a
masterpiece with the craftsmanship of da Vinci? What if your painting was
considered to be a lost da Vinci? Would you sell it? What would you be
willing to do for this kind of talent? Would you be deterred from your
goal if you were told that you would die a horrible death by fire? What if
the ability to paint these masterpieces came from possessing a chair that
was crafted by Leonardo da Vinci? Would you want to own it?
The LaBont family has
owned Leonardo’s chair for fifty years. On a night the house is destroyed
by fire, the chair is stolen. Paul LaBont sets out on a journey to
reacquire Leonardo’s chair at his father’s request. The trail he follows
is filled with temptation. Will he be able to resist or will he succumb to
the power of the chair as so many have before him? The decisions that Paul
makes will affect the lives around him, specifically his family and his
friends. Will he make the right decisions?
John DeSimone does a very
good job at portraying the temptations we face everyday. Our lives are
filled with choices. It is up to each of us to decide which path to
follow. Which path will you choose? Leonardo’s Chair is an
enduring tale of good versus evil. It is also a story of redemption
if you choose to receive it. Do we put too much faith in earthly objects
to reach out for salvation?
I rather enjoyed this
story. It was simple to read and easy to understand. John DeSimone wrote
about everyday circumstances so it is easy to relate the situations to our
lives. Another plus is that the book contains questions for reflection.
This is a useful tool for a book group.
