What is it that man searches for but never finds? Why are we always striving for happiness and contentment but never finding it?

The author, Slawomir Biela, answers these questions to remarkable accuracy. She proves the point that whatever we search for can only be found in one place. That place is in the bosom of God.

This work will hit everyone who reads it, in a different way. The writer takes every aspect of life that we deem important and shows us the fallacy of their significance. From home life and family to work and rewards. The author points out, that without God as our main focus, all else is only a placebo for actual happiness and worth.

This work shows us that relying upon other things, instead of God, while appearing to bring happiness, only lasts for a short time. Everything we tend to hold as important has a point where it starts to break through the illusion of joy. For parents, children bring out our best, and also our worst. When a child stops acting cute and starts to test the set limits and our patience, we find that the illusion of family bliss is starting to clear to reality. The author goes into this as well as other aspects of daily living in which we strive for happiness.

An added pleasure of reading in this book, are the references to writers of the church. St. Teresa of Avilla, St. John of the Cross, and others. To see their writings on these matters as a reference to the author’s work brings both into a light of perfect instruction on happiness.

This book is a must read for anyone who, even though not a Christian, who longs for a state of being that makes life seem a little nicer to live. And for those of us in the Christian faith, sometimes we need kicked in the seat of our pants. If for no other reason, that we don’t become complaisant in our lives. Sometimes we tend to forget that we are to lay everything at the throne of God. This book reminded me, as it will those who read it, that everything should be given to God.
