This book describes a pastor who, at age
7, was molested by a family friend at an amusement park while on the
ferris wheel. It changed him from then on.
During his high school years he was
tormented, beat up, mocked and spit at.
He faced a lot of trials in his life
along with Hepatitis B and Pneumonia.
But something along the way told him to
serve God, to make himself new again.
He started a church in the worst part of
Atlanta, Georgia, alongside prostitutes, alcoholics, drug addicts,
and people who were homeless. At first people thought he was crazy to
do so at a location that was unsuited for a church. but the more he
carried on, the more people wanted to change their lives.
I recommend this book as a self help
guide for people who were abused in the past or people who are
seeking in general. Pick up this book and read. This is a Christian
approach to counseling.
One thing I liked about this book was how
he guides you through the Christian walk. During his autobiography he
pauses and gives you advice on how to live the Christian life. He
tells you what you need to know and he doesn't sugarcoat it in
anyway. He gets to the point of things. During some points, he also
give tough love. He tells you it's this way or no way. You have a
choice - GOD or no one. You can't have it both ways and he tells us
that some people choose the latter. They want to do their own thing
and not listen to God.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It
taught me about things in my own past that still need to be dealt
with. I hope other people will enjoy this book too.
