Keep the Candle Burning is written as a reflection of the bands 24 top songs.  That is what appealed to me.  I listen to lots of Christian music, and a lot of it is based on scripture, or someone’s testimony.  Reading this book brought each song to light, and gave it a unique identity.  These are 4 wonderful Christian women, who really love God.

We all go through trials in our lives, being able to take what we have gone, or are going through, and associate it with something someone else has been through, that is great.  We all associate with music.  Having music that tells someone’s story, which is so similar to ours helps us get through our hard times.  I love hearing those Christian songs that use real life happenings, along with the word of God to tell how to overcome our trials.

In the book, they take each song, one at a time, and they give a story, backed up with scripture about the song.  For instance, “I’ll be Believing”, the first song reflected, talks about a little girl who had been believing God for a pet, and she ended up getting a cat.  These stories are short, but they relate to real life people, living for the Lord, and knowing the word.  There are so many wonderful words of inspiration in the Bible, and this book takes everyday lives of people, and incorporates how to use the scripture to get through everday life.

This book contains a lot of hope for those who feel hopeless.  What I loved about this book was that is a short book.  So many people today want to read, and there are a lot of wonderful books out there to help people, but people are so busy and sometimes don’t have time to sit and read really long books.  I know myself, I love to read books about God, and living a Christian life, however, with a job and 2 small children, I often start a book, but do not get a chance to finish it.  The chapters of this book were just the right length.  Another strong point of the book was at the end of every chapter there was a page with a scripture to read, and a question for you to meditate on and then a question to relate what is going on in your own life with that of the scripture.  WOW!!  How many people really look at what happened to people in the Bible, and how they handled things, and then take that and try to handle their own personal experiences the same way.

I believe this book will appeal to everyone who is new in the Christian life, young or old.  I think those who love music will also be attracted to this book.  This book just proves to us that there is so much more to music than just empty words.  These words touch your heart.  There were a couple of the chapters that brought tears to my eyes, but they also brought much hope and comfort.  The comfort that God will always be there.
