Marengo, Illinois, October 11, 2006  -   Are you saved, or do you just think you're saved? This book will help you know the truth. More importantly, if you have been deceived, "Be Not Deceived" will help you reclaim God's gift of everlasting life.

Edward Mrkvicka, author of the recently released book “Be Not Deceived,” states that the generally accepted religious doctrine of once-saved-always-saved has given birth to a false belief that the sacrifice of Christ can be used as a license to sin for those in spiritual rebellion to the Word of God. “Then too,” states Mrkvicka, “God’s Word states repeatedly that many who believe they have accepted the gift of salvation, actually have not. Instead, they have been deceived into believing a cheap grace that says God’s children can sin without consequence, when they cannot, as with continued rebellion they reveal they were either never saved in the first place or have since, by exercising their God-given free will, rejected the salvation they once cherished.”

“Sadly, instead of people being taught what they need to hear about salvation, they are too often being told what they want to hear.” Mrkvicka’s concern is that people are being deceived into believing they can live immoral lives, because their works are irrelevant once they have been saved; that the grace of God will grant them mercy and entrance into heaven no matter if they are living as if they were a non-believer. To the contrary says Mrkvicka. “While salvation is an unmerited gift we cannot earn, our works are a barometer of our faith. Put another way, there is nothing we can do to earn salvation, but if we are truly saved we live virtuous lives filled with righteous works that give witness to our acceptance of God’s free and unmerited gift of eternal life. Absent those works, there is every reason to question if we are saved.”

Mrkvicka says he didn‘t write the potentially controversial book to judge or discourage anyone, but rather to help those who have been deceived reclaim God’s loving gift of everlasting life.

The Christian reviewer for the The Writer’s Edge says of “Be Not Deceived,” “The reader will become engaged and compelled to keep reading.”
